Terms of Service

DRAFT — NOT LEGAL ADVICE. This page has not been reviewed by a lawyer and must not be published as-is. Every [bracketed] placeholder needs a real answer, and the whole page needs review for your actual jurisdiction, entity, and school agreements before this product opens to anyone (ARCHITECTURE.md §21 R4).

Last updated: [date]. Effective for accounts created on or after [date].

1. Who this is for

imegle (“we”, “us”) is operated by [legal entity name], a [entity type] organized in [jurisdiction]. These terms are a contract between you and us. By creating an account you accept them.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and currently enrolled at, or otherwise hold a valid email address issued by, one of our supported schools. We verify the second condition by email domain; we do not verify age beyond your statement that you meet it. Creating an account if you do not meet either requirement is a violation of these terms, and we will remove accounts and content on discovering it.

3. What the service is

imegle connects you, by chance, with one other verified student for a live video conversation and a text chat alongside it. You do not choose who you are matched with. The only thing you are told about the other person is which school they attend.

4. Your conduct

You agree not to, during a call or in chat:

See our Community Guidelines for the full list of what we act on and how.

5. What we can do about it

We may warn, restrict (reduced visibility in matching), suspend, or permanently ban an account for violating these terms or the Community Guidelines, with or without notice, and end a live call immediately when we do. Some enforcement is automatic and triggers before anyone reviews the report by hand — see the Community Guidelines for how that works and why.

6. No control over the other person

We do not record calls, and we have no way to stop the other person from recording, screenshotting, or otherwise capturing your call outside our systems. Anonymity here means we do not tell either of you who the other is — it is not a technical guarantee that nothing you say or show can be captured or repeated. Do not share anything you would not want repeated.

7. Reporting and blocking

You can report or block anyone you are matched with, from the call itself or from your recent conversations for 7 days afterward. After 7 days, a conversation is no longer shown to you and can no longer be reported or blocked from — see the Privacy Policy for why.

8. Account termination

You may delete your account at any time from [account settings location — not yet built]. We may suspend or terminate your account for violating these terms. Either way, some records survive deletion in de-identified form — see the Privacy Policy.

9. Disclaimers

The service is provided “as is.” We do not vet the people you are matched with beyond the email-domain check in Section 2, and we cannot guarantee any call will be free of content you find objectionable. [Standard warranty disclaimer and limitation-of-liability language for your jurisdiction goes here — this needs a lawyer, not a template.]

10. Governing law

[Jurisdiction and venue — needs a lawyer.]

11. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be posted here with a new “last updated” date; [decide whether you also need active notice, e.g. email, for material changes].
